Time.news – The tycoon Rupert Murdoch announced that will step down as chairman of Fox and News Corp, his media empire. The baton passes to his son Lachlan who will lead both companies.
In a note to employees, Murdoch added that “the time is right” for him to take on “different roles”. Murdoch, who is 92 years old, launched Fox News in 1996 and today the station is the most watched television news channel in the United States.
Rupert Murdoch had not shown any so far intention to resign nor to let go, even after naming Lachlan heir to his empire in 2019, when he sold his vast entertainment holdings to the Walt Disney Company. Even now, as president emeritus, he will continue to act as an advisor, Lachlan assured.
