The Sonreissste program will be valid until the end of November in waiting rooms and different hospitalization areas.
It consists of generating joy through music, theater and art because it is a technique that stimulates and encourages emotional and mental well-being.
In order to support patients and family members in vulnerable situations, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste) reactivated the Smile program at the Regional Hospital (HR) “Lic. “Adolfo López Mateos”. The objective is to spread joy to our rights that receive care in medical units, said the director of Economic, Social and Cultural Benefits, Yezmín Lehmann Mendoza.
It will be from today until the end of November in waiting rooms and different hospitalization areas of this hospital, as well as the “Dr. Fernando Quiroz”, and “Darío Fernández”, in addition to the National Medical Center (CMN) “20 de Noviembre”, located in Mexico City.
This scheme is part of the strategy of the general director, Pedro Zenteno Santaella, to promote humane treatment of those who are the masters and lords of the institute.
“We have the purpose of bringing Sonreissste to the medical units of each state. So far we have reactivated it here, in the capital, to provide better service to patients and families who sometimes go through unfortunate times, and art can support their stay and healing.”
In front of patients and caregivers who remained in the waiting room, the public servant explained that this plan consists of generating smiles through music, theater and laughter, a proven technique that stimulates and encourages emotional and mental well-being.
The director of the HR, Félix Octavio Martínez Alcalá, thanked the Benefits Directorate for reestablishing this program in favor of entitlement.
In the pediatric area, the Clown Theater was presented, where the children talked and had fun with clowns, who caused smiles while they played together.
During the event and tour, the deputy director of Social and Cultural Services of the Issste, Francisco Enrique Pérez Hernández, was present.
On behalf of the Regional Hospital “Lic. Adolfo López Mateos” participated: the deputy medical director, Diana Xóchitl Cruz Sánchez; the deputy medical director, José Manuel Olán Gil; the coordinator of Attention to Rightholders, Yésica Peñaloza Jiménez; and the coordinator of General Services, Antolín Pineda García.
