Madurai: In a recent statement, Minister Udayanidhi announced that the DMK party will spearhead a people’s movement against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination. The minister made this declaration at the DMK Youth State Conference held in Madurai.

During the conference, Udayanidhi also awarded DMK members of Madurai South District with a golden medal. This ceremony was a part of the first-year memorial service of former Speaker Sedapatti Muthiah, which took place at his hometown Muthappanpatti. The event was attended by senior DMK officials including Udhayanidhi, Raghupathi, Periyakaruppan, and P. Murthy, among others.

Expressing his gratitude for the support and contributions of party members, Minister Udhayanidhi stated that the DMK government has implemented numerous significant projects that have benefitted Madurai district. He also encouraged young women to actively participate in the upcoming DMK Youth 2nd State Convention in Salem on December 17.

To boost the morale of party members, Udhayanidhi announced that cash rewards of Rs.10,000, vetti, sarees, and sweets have been distributed to dedicated DMK members. He emphasized the importance of wearing the black and red cloth, symbolic of the party’s identity. Furthermore, as a token of appreciation for the senior administrators’ efforts in developing the DMK, the minister presented a financial aid of Rs. 50 lakh on behalf of the youth. In addition, thousands of people have received gold coins worth Rs. 40 crore.

During the event, District Secretary M. Manimaran expressed his admiration for Minister Murthy’s leadership and assured his unwavering support. Manimaran also highlighted his commitment to strengthening the DMK’s presence in the southern district.

In a related development, former minister RB Udayakumar voiced concerns regarding the cancellation of the NEET exam. Udayakumar reiterated the party’s promise made during the election campaign and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting against the NEET exam. He emphasized that the DMK is a party that does not deceive the people and encouraged supporters to participate in a people’s movement against the examination.

As part of the planned protest, a signature drive will be initiated to gather support for the demand to cancel the NEET exam. Udayakumar challenged his critics to join him by signing the motion. He further questioned the timeline for the implementation of AIIMS and criticized the BJP and AIADMK, accusing them of having internal party issues.

The DMK Youth State Conference saw the participation of various party officials, including Ramanathapuram District DMK Secretary Katharpatsa alias Muthuramalingam, Madurai South District DMK Deputy Secretary Advocate Balaji, and others.

The DMK’s call for a people’s movement against the NEET exam is expected to gain traction and generate public support. It remains to be seen how the government and other stakeholders will respond to these demands.
