Man Stealing Car Gets Stuck Upside Down During Police Chase in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA – A dramatic police chase ended in a bizarre scene yesterday when a car thief got stuck upside down while attempting to exit the vehicle through the driver’s side window. The chase, which lasted over an hour, came to an end when a civilian pickup truck boxed the suspect in, leading to his arrest.
The incident began shortly before 3 p.m. when authorities spotted the stolen vehicle on the 10 Freeway. The suspect, who had a red, green, and yellow flag sticking out from the sunroof, led police on a high-speed pursuit, at times reaching speeds exceeding 80 mph. As he weaved in and out of traffic, the stolen car caught the attention of numerous bystanders and caused significant road congestion.
After evading police on the freeway, the suspect exited onto Crenshaw Boulevard, where the chase continued. However, his luck soon ran out as he reached a heavily congested area near Crenshaw Boulevard and Charles Place. It was here that a quick-thinking civilian in a pickup truck strategically positioned their vehicle in front of the suspect’s car, blocking his escape route. Simultaneously, a police cruiser closed in from behind, effectively trapping the suspect.
With the suspect surrounded, police officers quickly approached the vehicle with guns drawn. In a tense standoff, the man stuck his hands out the window in a gesture of surrender. However, as he attempted to climb out of the window, he became stuck, with his legs remaining inside the car.
For nearly three minutes, the suspect struggled and wiggled in an attempt to free himself. Finally, he managed to free his legs and performed a forward roll onto the ground. He then flipped onto his stomach and waited for officers to move in and apprehend him.
