New Delhi: The number of unrecognized parties registering with the Election Commission has now more than doubled compared to 2010.

Newly registered parties in the Electoral Commission will be added to the list of unrecognized parties that did not receive the required percentage of votes in the elections and did not contest the election.

According to a source close to the organization, Reform for Democracy:
The number of unregistered parties registered with the Election Commission in 2010 was 1,112. This has increased to 2,858 by 2021. The number of such parties will increase significantly during the Lok Sabha elections.
Of the registered and unrecognized parties, only 230 have filed annual reports and only 160 have filed their contribution reports in the public domain. Of the five states where assembly elections have been announced, 889 are unrecognized parties.
Thus it is said.
