After a refusal to comply during which a police officer was seriously injured Thursday in Sochaux (Doubs), two judicial investigations were opened. One for charges of attempted murder of a person holding public authority and refusal to comply and the other for “violence with weapons” regarding the shooting of a police officer by firearm, indicated this Friday the Montbéliard parquet floor.

Thursday, shortly before 7 p.m., a police officer from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) of the Montbéliard police station “was seriously injured while he participated, with two colleagues, in the arrest of a 22-year-old man” convicted and the subject of a search warrant for escape, said the public prosecutor in a press release. One of the police officers used his service weapon, “bullet wounding the wanted person in the hip”, he detailed.

These events occurred in the courtyard of the building of the parents of the young man sought, at the wheel of a vehicle with which he had refused to comply a few days earlier, managing to flee.

The police officer dragged under the chassis of the vehicle

According to the first elements of the investigation, “despite the repeated injunctions of the police officers whose quality was apparent”, the man, who was accompanied by his girlfriend, “would have started his vehicle in reverse from a garage box in which he was parked”, hitting the police officer from behind who was trying to prevent him from fleeing, explains the prosecution.

The police officer was dragged “under the chassis of the vehicle”. Despite his cries and new injunctions to stop, the young man continued his flight, this time from the front, hitting the BAC vehicle, “and carrying away the victim trapped under the chassis”. A police officer then allegedly “fired three times in the direction of the vehicle”, which caused it to be immobilized.

The seriously injured police officer “was still pinned under the chassis of the vehicle when first aid arrived” and has since been hospitalized. His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy and he was able to be interviewed as part of the investigation, indicates the prosecutor. He reportedly suffered from “a double fracture of his left wrist, a fracture of his right shoulder blade, broken ribs and head trauma.”

The arrested man underwent surgery Friday morning and was taken into police custody early in the afternoon. The police officer who fired the shots was interviewed Thursday evening as part of a free hearing.
