Tragedy Strikes as Railway Policewoman’s Family and Colleague Commit Suicide

Vadipatti, Madurai: A devastating incident shocked the residents of Vadipatti as a railway policewoman’s daughter and son, along with a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, tragically ended their lives yesterday. The incident took place near Samayanalluar in Madurai district and Chathur in Virudhunagar district.

The policewoman, identified as Madurai Thirupalai Subbaraj’s wife Jayalakshmi, had been serving in the Railway Police department for the past six years. On the evening of September 21, Jayalakshmi, along with her daughter Pavithra, aged 11, and son Kalimuthuraja, aged 9, committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on the Madurai-Dindigul railway tracks.

In an unfortunate turn of events, another suicide occurred involving a RPF constable. Chokkalingapandian, 51, hailed from Kadladadi, Ramanathapuram district, and had been living in Indiranagar, Kovilpatti, Tuticorin district. He had been living separately from his wife for the past seven years following a disagreement. Chokkalingapandian worked as a Principal Constable in the Railway Protection Force at Red Fort.

On the night before yesterday, Chokkalingapandian tragically ended his life by jumping in front of the Tiruchendur train near Chinnak Kollapatti exit on the Chatthar-Kovilpatti track. What made the incident more alarming was that it occurred just hours after Jayalakshmi’s suicide.

Upon closer examination, police investigators discovered a connection between Jayalakshmi and Chokkalingapandian. They had a known “friendship” that began when the constable was stationed in Madurai. However, following his transfer to Red Fort, Chokkalingapandian engaged in an affair with another woman.

Jayalakshmi, upon discovering her husband’s infidelity, confronted both Chokkalingapandian and the other woman at Red Fort. Threats to file a police complaint were made, and devastated by the realization that she had been cheated out of money by Chokkalingapandian, Jayalakshmi took the drastic step of ending her life along with her two innocent children.

Upon learning of Jayalakshmi’s suicide and the circumstances surrounding it, Chokkalingapandian sent a heartbreaking text message to his brother, admitting the mistake he had made. Unfortunately, overwhelmed by guilt and remorse, he took his own life by jumping in front of a train near Chatthar.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the mental health and emotional well-being of those involved. It is imperative that authorities address such issues promptly and provide support to those in need.

The tragic loss of lives in this incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for counseling services within law enforcement agencies. It is crucial that steps are taken to prevent such devastating events from occurring in the future.

The police investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to provide support and comfort to the grieving families of the deceased.
