The police suspect that the cupcake was mixed with marijuana and are investigating the case. According to local media, the children fell ill during class after buying muffins from a street vendor and were hospitalized on Wednesday (20). Some of the symptoms reported by students were nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting. Teachers called an ambulance after noticing “strange behavior” from children in class. Police are awaiting the results of a toxicological test to confirm whether there is the presence of marijuana in the muffin consumed by the students. Of all the children hospitalized, only three girls have not yet been discharged. There is no information about their health status. Two suspects were arrested and will give evidence this Friday (22) at the Soshanguve Magistrates Court. They could be charged with attempted murder. “We implore students to be mindful of what they buy and consume and be cautious about who they buy food from,” Gauteng Education Executive Board member Matome Chiloane said. “We wish all affected students a speedy recovery,” he added.
