Next January, cult character “Dittsche” will celebrate his 20th TV birthday. In 2004, the improvisation cult went on air for the first time with Olli Dittrich (66) and in the French fries shop, his beloved “Eppendorfer Grill Station”. 30 seasons including the Corona interruption in March 2020, countless celebrities. Just as iconic: Dittsche’s buddy “Ingo” (Jon Flemming Olsen, 58) behind the bar. “Turtle” (Franz Jarnach, until his death at 73 in 2017) was mostly on the stool beforehand (“Leave me alone, I’m off work!”).

Now Olli Dittrich is currently on tour with the lovable character in sweatpants, bathrobe and slippers and distributes his wisdom all over Germany with a beer in his hand and a gossipy hairstyle. Surely he would have so many good tips for the national soccer team? Dittrich will be playing his heartfelt role live on stage until the end of November. But then? What’s next on TV?

“Dittsche – The Really Real Life” has not yet been told. Although Germany’s biggest celebrities have all already made their appearances in the French fries shop. After a Corona interruption, the last longer improvisation programs ran in 2021. 261 episodes each entertained on TV for a good half hour. Without a big script. Dittrich and his friend Jon Flemming Olsen (also play together in the band Texas Lightning) In 2022, a few short clips were produced for an ARD theme week. However, only for a few minutes each. But Dittrich and his troops are still hungry and thirsty.

According to BILD information, Dittsche should return to the screen with fresh episodes in 2024. As BILD knows, there is, among other things, the idea of including part of the show thematically as part of the European Football Championship. For example, Dittrich and possible prominent guests could watch a DFB team game live in the grill snack bar.

As the responsible broadcaster, WDR only wants to comment on specific plans as follows: A spokesman for BILD: “After almost 20 years, the format is to be further developed after joint discussions with everyone involved. Olli Dittrich, his management, WDR and the production companies involved have drawn up various concepts and ideas for this.”
This much is certain: Dittsche is currently doing well live, but is also far from being on TV after work…
