The SVP and Kristiane Vietze have the most, the EVP the least: Thurgau party presidents and candidates talk about their campaign budgets, generous sponsors and the importance of money.

Although the SVP Thurgau has a budget of over 200,000 francs, top candidate Pascal Schmid pays for his posters himself.

For the first time ever, parties and candidates for the national and state elections have to disclose their budgets. The new transparency rules apply to budgets from 50,000 francs and donations from individuals from 15,000 francs. Parties and candidates had until September 7th to declare their budgets to the Federal Audit Office SFAO. The figures, which are based on self-declaration and have not yet been verified, have been available since Friday.
