In a commendable action for the environment, Cementos Progreso has made a significant donation of 42,800 trees to the Northeast Regional of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) in Guatemala. This generous donation covers the Departments of El Progreso, Zacapa, Chiquimula and Izabal and its main objective is to support reforestation activities in this important area.

Perspective Writing

The donation, which was managed by the Progreso Environmental Management Department, arises in response to a request from the El Progreso delegation, which seeks to recover forest cover in various areas of these municipalities, in an effort to preserve biodiversity and improve local climatic conditions.

The donated trees include 3,000 Madrecacao trees, 10,200 Cedar trees, 10,400 Mahogany trees, 3,200 Matilisguate trees, 6,000 Oocarpa pine trees and 10,000 common cypress trees. These trees will be used to recover 38 hectares in an intensive reforestation system, which will have a positive impact on both biodiversity and local communities.

The delivery of this invaluable donation took place at the San Miguel Río Abajo Farm, with the participation of representatives of Cementos Progreso and MARN, thus highlighting the joint commitment to environmental conservation and the well-being of the population.

This donation consolidates Cementos Progreso as a key ally of MARN in its reforestation strategy at the national level, directly contributing to the landscape restoration program, whose objective is to improve the quality of life of the Guatemalan population.

Cementos Progreso demonstrates, once again, its leadership in social responsibility and its sustainable vision, positioning itself as a fundamental actor in the recovery of forest cover at the local and national level. This exemplary action reflects its continued commitment to protecting the environment and promoting a greener, more sustainable future for all.
