France will withdraw ambassador and military presence from Niger after coup d’état

French President Emmanuel Macron announced this Sunday (24) that Paris will repatriate its ambassador to Niger and soon withdraw the presence of 1,500 French soldiers who are in the African country. In July, a coup d’état overthrew elected president Mohamed Bazoum and relations between the Nigerian military and France deteriorated.
