This Thursday, September 21, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the hats for the next CAN-2024 African Cup of Nations, alongside the updating of the FIFA ranking of the best teams in the world. The hats have been revealed ahead of the draw for the group stage which will take place on October 12.
FIFA has updated its ranking of the best teams in the world, which placed the 24 nations qualified for CAN 2023 in four different hats. A country cannot compete against another country in the same hat. Morocco (semi-finalist of the last World Cup) and Senegal (reigning African champion) are in hat 1 and are placed as favorites for the competition, with Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, and the country Ivorian host.
Here are the complete hats for the CAN, which will be held from January 13 to February 11, 2023
Hat 1 : Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt
Hat 2 : Nigeria, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, DR Congo
Hat 3 : South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, MauritaniaHat 4 : Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Gambia, Tanzania.
