Kovid grips China again: 5 million homes without lockdown

BEIJING: The city of Anyang in China has imposed a ban on all activities except the sale of essential items, following a sharp rise in Kovid variants, including Omikron. With this, more than 50 lakh people were forced to stay at home.

The capital, Beijing, has been placed at high risk. Authorities have been trying to bring the country’s Kovid rate to zero through measures such as lockdowns in some areas, border controls and longer quarantine periods.

But in the meanwhile the rate of Kovid variants was rising uncontrollably. With this, lockdowns were announced in many cities. Authorities have issued a stern warning to locals not to leave their homes or park their vehicles under any circumstances. All activities except the manufacture and sale of essential items are prohibited.
