The UK CPI drops one tenth in August

The annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom stood at 6.7% in August, one tenth less than in July, which represents the lowest level of inflation in the country since February 2022, according to the British Office for National Statistics (ONS)).

In the eighth month of 2023, the year-on-year increase in the price of food and non-alcoholic beverages in the United Kingdom was 13.6%, compared to 14.9% in the previous month.

Core inflation, which excludes the volatility of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, decreased seven tenths in August, reaching 6.2%, its lowest figure since last March, when it also registered a rate of 6.2%.

In monthly terms, prices registered a rebound of 0.3% in the eighth month of the year, compared to the 0.5% increase experienced in the same month of 2022.
