Controversy Erupts over BJP’s Alleged Comments on Late Former CM Anna by Annamalai

Amidst an ongoing controversy surrounding comments made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Annamalai regarding the late former Chief Minister Perarinagar Anna, former minister Jayakumar stated in a press conference that the BJP is not part of the AIADMK alliance. This statement triggered a war of words between the leaders of the two political parties. In addition to this, Annamalai also mentioned that he did not assume the responsibility of BJP state chief to pave the way for Edappadi Palaniswami to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Following Annamalai’s remarks, a verbal spat ensued between the leaders of both parties, although there has been no official statement from AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami. However, it has been reported that AIADMK’s second-phase leaders have been advised against discussing the BJP.

Given the current scenario, an AIADMK district secretaries meeting is scheduled to take place this evening to determine whether the AIADMK-BJP alliance will continue or come to an end. Reports claim that the district secretaries have proposed a resolution against the BJP alliance.

Commenting on the matter, BJP State General Secretary Rama Srinivasan stated in an interview with News18 TV that the final decision regarding the alliance lies with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda. He emphasized that it is within the rights of the state BJP to decide whether they want to continue the alliance with AIADMK.

Srinivasan further explained that just as there are some individuals within AIADMK who do not wish to forge an alliance with the BJP, there are also many within BJP who hold a similar stance. He emphasized that the decision will ultimately be made by the national leadership.

In light of the ongoing discussions, Srinivasan revealed that if the AIADMK state leadership ultimately decides against forming an alliance with the BJP, the party will seek to form a new coalition with other like-minded parties that are not affiliated with AIADMK and will not contest the upcoming elections.
