Alliance between AIADMK and BJP Broken, Says KP Munusamy

In a surprising development, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced today that its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been broken. The decision was made during a consultative meeting of the AIADMK district secretaries.

Following the meeting, K.P. Munusamy, a prominent AIADMK leader, addressed reporters and stated, “BJP leader Annamalai’s speech has created turmoil among AIADMK workers. There will be no alliance with BJP. AIADMK is withdrawing from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as of today. A parliamentary election alliance will be formed under the leadership of EPS.”

The rift between AIADMK and BJP stemmed from comments made by Tamil Nadu BJP leader K. Annamalai regarding former Chief Minister Anna. Munusamy emphasized that BJP leaders have been consistently criticizing prominent AIADMK figures like Anna and Jayalalithaa, which has caused dissatisfaction among AIADMK volunteers and members. He also mentioned that the BJP’s opposition to the AIADMK’s Golden Jubilee Conference played a role in the decision to end the alliance.

The consultative meeting, which included AIADMK head club secretaries, district secretaries, party MPs, and MLAs, took place at the party’s head office in Chennai. Party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami chaired the meeting, which started at 3.45 pm and concluded at 5.30 pm.

The news of AIADMK’s breakup with the BJP has sparked celebration among AIADMK activists. They expressed their joy by bursting firecrackers and offering sweets in various parts of Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK’s decision to end the alliance with the BJP marks a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. With the upcoming parliamentary elections, it remains to be seen how this development will impact the alliances and electoral strategies of both parties.
