Train traffic will be disrupted across the entire SNCF network on Tuesday September 26 due to a national social movement, announced at the end of July. A joint strike notice from the three unions, CGT, Sud-Rail and CFDT, was filed, running from Monday at 7 p.m. to Wednesday at 8 a.m.

The railway workers’ unions are calling for a massive mobilization to “put a stop to the harmful plans to dismantle the SNCF, to win general salary increases, recognition of the technical nature of our professions through the revaluation of work bonuses, maintaining and improving our rights,” they indicate in a tract.

However, despite the anger of the unions, train traffic will be “almost normal” this Tuesday. “Slight disruptions may be encountered on certain lines or in certain regions,” adds SNCF Voyageurs. We invite you to check the movement of trains and connections on the usual information channels from 5 p.m. this Monday. »

There should be no – or very few – last minute surprises, the company further specifies. For the few TGV INOUI, OUIGO or Intercités subject to adaptations, the travelers concerned “have already been notified individually, in order to benefit from a postponement or reimbursement free of charge”, specifies the company railway.

Few unpleasant surprises to expect

The mobilization of railway workers therefore promises to be weak despite this “important date which addresses major issues”, underlines Thomas Cavel, general secretary of the CFDT Cheminots. The unions are calling to mobilize against, pell-mell, the “liquidation of Fret SNCF” – restructured after an investigation by the European Commission -, “working conditions”, “competition” and even “wages”. “There are many areas of concern among railway workers,” says SUD Rail.

Only Unsa decided not to take part in the movement. “At the start of the school year, after the summer holidays and especially the mobilizations against pension reform, railway workers are not necessarily in very good financial health,” underlines a trade unionist. Some prefer to preserve the troops while waiting for the obligatory annual negotiations (NAO).

These should take place in “October or November”. The unions are waiting for the arrival of the new HR director, Philippe Bru – after the retirement of François Nogué this summer – to know the “precise date”. “For the moment, it’s on standby. But expectations are high, between inflation, the rise in the price of electricity and that of fuel, among others” warns Didier Mathis, secretary general of Unsa. And Thomas Cavel warns: “Management will need to have proposals that match. »

Details of the disruptions, including for TGV and Intercity trains, were communicated at 5 p.m. this Monday on the SNCF website. The railway company invites travelers to “check the movement of trains and connections on the usual information channels” before going to the station.
