Emmanuel Macron presented on Monday September 25 a multi-year plan intended to halve French greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030. The head of state praised a “French ecology”at a time “creator of values”, “competitive”, “accessible and fair” and capable of “protect the French and nature”.
He reaffirmed the definitive exit from coal by 2027. While he had confirmed the day before that he would give up banning gas boilers, he set the objective of producing “a million heat pumps” per year in the country by the end of his mandate in 2027, triple the current level. Public transport is also encouraged, with the launch of thirteen metropolitan RER lines, with State support of 700 million euros.
