A 15-year-old boy was injured in the knee by his father during a hunting trip. He was transferred to the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital.

The incident took place on the afternoon of Sunday September 24, during a wild boar hunt organized in the town of Saint-Poncy, in Cantal. A 15-year-old boy was injured in the knees by a fragment of a projectile, indicates France 3 Regions. The perpetrator of the shooting, heard around 2 p.m. by other participants in the beat, is the father of the victim. The teenager was transferred to the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital, where he was still in hospital on Monday afternoon.
He suffers from a “serious” injury to his knees and the artery is affected, said Mathieu Riffier, captain of the Saint-Flour gendarmerie company, BFMTV. However, there was “never a life-threatening prognosis”.
“We are probably dealing with something accidental”
The father of the victim, perpetrator of the shooting, is “at his side” in the hospital, assures the gendarmerie. He is a member of the local hunting association, while his son accompanied the hunt but was apparently unarmed. “We are probably dealing with something accidental, but for the moment, we do not know exactly what happened,” indicates Captain Mathieu Riffier. An investigation has been opened for involuntary violence, in which the father and son will be heard.
“When there is an accident, there is almost always a fault,” comments the president of the Cantal hunting federation on BFMTV, for whom “there is probably a lack of respect for the rules, even if we can sometimes see shots at 30° ricochet at 90°”.
