A megachurch baptized more than 280 new converts in an outdoor celebration, as a result of the evangelistic work carried out by its congregations.

The Biltmore Church, which has seven congregations in North Carolina (USA), held a water baptism celebration for 282 new converts last Sunday, September 24.

The chosen location was a property with a lake, where 279 of the new converts were baptized. The other three went down into the water during the morning services of their respective congregations, linked to the same church.

Pastor Devin Goins, who works in the Ministry of Culture and Engagement, gave an interview to the portal The Christian Post and stated that he believes “this can only be attributed to the movement of God in people’s lives.”

“In addition, our team worked on numerous in-person conversations, and we devoted much of the sermon a few weeks ago to the topic of baptism. Each person was counseled individually to ensure they understood the Gospel and professed Jesus as Lord of their life. We hope to always be ready for when God moves, so that so many can take the next steps as disciples of Jesus”, he stated.

Devin also said it was incredible to see “hundreds of people profess Jesus as Lord” and “to hear each testimony of God working in each person’s life.”

“Baptism is a big step for a follower of Christ, but it is often just the beginning. Our team will continue to connect with each person to engage in biblical community and additional ways to develop as a follower of Jesus. We are excited to continue to guide each person as they continue their discipleship journey.”

The Biltmore megachurch has its origins in the Fern Hill Baptist Church, founded 1889 on the Biltmore Estate and originally had 25 congregation members. In 2008, Bruce Frank became lead pastor, with the church opening several smaller congregations during the 2010s and welcoming Brevard Community Church as a branch in 2021.

In addition to serving as Biltmore’s senior pastor, Bruce Frank recently served as president of the sexual abuse working group of the Southern Baptist Convention, where he pushed for reform in response to reports that the denomination was not adequately processing allegations of sexual misconduct.
