During the month of October, the world will have its eyes on Rome. Bishops from different countries, priests, lay people and religious will meet in the Eternal City to participate in a historic event, the Synod of Synodality, which will be celebrated under the title: “For a synodal Church: communion, participation and mission.”
For the first time in Church history, lay people will not only participate in the Synod, but will also be full members, with the ability to vote on a final document when the process ends in October 2024.
This novelty alters the budget and investment required to launch an event of such magnitude. As Thierry Bonaventura, head of communication for the Synod of Bishops, told ACI Prensa, “things have diversified.”
