A step towards the National Rally (RN) and La France Insoumise (LFI)? Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne estimated this Tuesday before the deputies of the presidential majority (Renaissance, MoDem, Horizons) in the National Assembly that we “ [pouvait] not exclude the extremes of our institutions”, at a time when some are wondering about the questioning of the two vice-presidencies attributed to the RN at the Palais-Bourbon.

“When work resumes, we will have to capitalize on a year of work to seek agreements in the Republican arc. The extremes represent a third of the deputies (RN and LFI, Editor’s note), so we cannot exclude them,” said the Prime Minister, according to a source who attended her speech. “This is why the President of the Republic invited them to the Saint-Denis dialogue, why I regularly invite all the group presidents, why they are associated with the Bercy dialogues (Ministry of Economy, Editor’s note) and Duquesne (Ministry of Health, Editor’s note), added Élisabeth Borne, specifying that the majority would continue “not to seek agreements with them”.

A meeting this Tuesday

The heads of the political groups in the National Assembly will meet this Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to decide whether they call into question the distribution of key positions at the Palais-Bourbon or whether they renew the current configuration of the office, with the two vice-presidents. -RN presidents, during a meeting on the subject on October 2. The President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet (Renaissance) pleads for the status quo. But on the left wing of the majority, some are wondering. In opposition, the head of the environmental group Cyrielle Chatelain had written to the presidential camp to call for “returning to one of the original mistakes of this mandate”, by working towards a new composition of the office.

But the rest of the left is reluctant, for fear of a major upheaval which would put other positions at stake, such as that of LFI president of the Finance Committee Éric Coquerel. “We, the forces that we are devoting at the moment are not to corridor games or to commission management, it is to beating the government on France Travail and on the PLFSS (Social Security budget)” , underlined LFI deputy Hadrien Clouet this Tuesday morning.

In front of the majority parliamentarians, Élisabeth Borne also called on her troops to “mobilize”. The budget review leading up to Christmas is “a busy time. We need your presence in the chamber,” she asked.
