by time news

The unrest in Colombia leads to the cancellation of the America’s Cup matches scheduled in the country, which was ready to co-host the tournament with theArgentina.

The final of the prestigious competition was also scheduled in Barranquilla, but the tense climate towards the government, with frequent street demonstrations and violent clashes with the police, led to the Conmebol (the South American football confederation) to retrace their steps.

Argentina has expressed its willingness to host all the matches of the tournament, which will take place from 13 June to 10 July, but there is also the availability of Ecuador and Paraguay.

In addition to political problems, Colombia also faces a difficult health situation due to Covid-19, with beyond 83,000 dead in the week that is drawing to a close.

The situation is better, but not by much, in Argentina, a country that will have to observe a rigido lockdown to try to contain the spread of infections.

The hosts of theAlbiceleste are very motivated to conquer the tournament, which in its last edition of 2019 saw the triumph of the historical rivals of the Brazil.
