According to the rescuers, the resident of the village was supposed to be cutting branches from a tree. “While working, she fell and impaled herself several centimeters thick branch, which penetrated her groin towards the torso, a foot in length,” confirmed paramedic Lukáš Humpl.
While the paramedics were connecting the seriously injured to the intravenous line for drugs and infusions, the firefighters were already shortening the limb sticking out of the body. “The woman was subsequently transported by helicopter to the Ostrava trauma center under constant monitoring of vital functions,” Humpl added.
