The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received, this Wednesday morning, the Secretary of Defense of the United States of America, Lloyd Austin, as part of the strengthening of military and security cooperation between the two countries.
With the Head of State, the US Secretary of Defense must, among other aspects, discuss “African-led solutions to mutual security challenges and highlight the importance of United States partnerships on the continent”, in fact, an objective that dominates the tour to Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya and Angola.
Cooperation relations between Angola and the United States of America dominated the hearing, witnessed by senior officials from both Administrations, according to the Presidency of the Republic on its official Facebook page.
Since Tuesday in the Angolan capital, for a 24-hour visit, the North American representative will also hold a courtesy meeting today with the Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos “Freedom ”.
Today, at 2 pm, Lloyd Austin will give a speech in the auditorium of the National Historical Archive, on the new angles of US policy towards Africa, under the motto “The Power of Partnership”.
