Media: Tesla is pushing out competitors from the electric vehicle market in the US

The American concern Tesla took first place among electric vehicle manufacturers in the first six months of this year. About it reported Reuters agency citing data from S&P Global Mobility.

From January to June, Tesla sold 325,291 electric vehicles in the United States. The concern’s closest competitor was Chevrolet with its electric hatchback Bolt EV – the company took second place with a result of almost 35,000 cars.

Model Y and Model 3 took first and second place with sales of about 200,000 and 160,000 electric cars, respectively.

The day before it was reported that Ford had suspended construction of a plant for the production of batteries for electric cars in Marshall, Michigan. It was planned to invest about $3.5 billion in the enterprise.

In July, Ford released financial results for the second quarter of 2023, according to which the loss in the electric vehicle segment for the full year could reach $4.5 billion. For comparison, in 2022 the company lost $2.1 billion in this production line.

In addition to the American market, Tesla intends to develop abroad. Reuters, citing sources, wrote that the concern is negotiating the construction of a battery production plant in India. It was clarified that Indian officials did not agree to participate in the creation of the enterprise, but offered government assistance in creating a business model for the company.
