Afghanistan year two: humanitarian crisis, violation of human rights and gender apartheid.- Pilar Requena

On August 15, 2021, the Taliban entered Kabul and took power again after two decades of international intervention, failed governments and countless sacrifices. Two years later, we find ourselves facing apartheid against women, whom the Taliban have expelled from public spaces, repression and countless prohibitions. Democracy and pluralism have been eradicated. There is greater security, despite a few pockets of resistance in some areas and attacks by the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Greater Khorasan or ISKP. The regime has not fallen and its control over Afghanistan seems inevitable in the foreseeable future. The World Health Organization has repeated its warning about the unstoppable increase in the humanitarian crisis in the Asian country. It is estimated that almost 30 million people need immediate help.
