Making the decision to follow Jesus Christ, worshiping the only true God, is something that can occur through the preaching of the Gospel, something that in places like Saudi Arabia, where persecution is a reality, can be a real challenge, as attested a Christian named Venus.

Despite being encouraged by a relative to join a Christian church, Vênus said she never came into contact with the Bible during her youth. Born in the Philippines, she became a nurse and went on to work in a military hospital.

Years later, after her father passed away at the age of 58, Vênus moved to Saudi Arabia, where she began to live alone. “Living in a Muslim country, I struggled with loneliness,” she said.

But it was in this country that she had her first contact with a Christian who told her about Jesus, and not only that: he also invited her to a Bible study, where he presented Venus with a Bible.

When reading the verse located in John 14:6, where Jesus says he is “the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’”, the woman who found herself struggling with loneliness felt touched by the power of God.

“I couldn’t control myself. I started crying and knelt on the floor, asking Jesus for forgiveness for all my sins. All these years were wasted. I realized that Jesus is the only way to God,” he declared.

Persecution

Since then, Venus also began to experience religious persecution. Now as a Christian, she knew that in the Islamic country there was no tolerance for those who follow Jesus Christ as the only true God.

“Everything was done in secret. We met in a small room and placed empty egg trays on the walls so no one could hear us. And the Lord allowed us to worship”, she recalls, according to Eternity News.

Fortunately, difficulties tested Venus’s faith, which made her come even closer to Jesus. She got married, had children and continues to testify to what God did in her life, to this day.

“Each year God’s words and my faith grow stronger. I love sharing about salvation through Jesus with my friends, family, and coworkers. Since then, some of my brothers and my mother have come to Jesus,” he concluded.
