New Delhi: Opposition parties have strongly criticized the appointment of MP Ramesh Bidhuri as BJP’s election in-charge of Tonk district in Rajasthan as a ‘reward for hate speech’.

Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal in his X post said, “BJP has rewarded hatred. BJP MP, who attacked BSP MP Tanish Ali with unspeakable words in a special meeting of Parliament, has given a gift to Bidhuri by making him the election in-charge of Tonk district of Rajasthan state. Muslim population in Tonk is 29.25 per cent. It symbolizes the distaste for political benefits,” he said.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said in his X post on Wednesday night, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Viswas” this is all their stupid bullshit. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, “Bithuri has been rewarded for speaking out against a Muslim MP. How BJP has given a new role to the person who issued the showcause notice? Narendra Modi ji is this your sin of friendship for minorities, limit of love?” He questioned that.

Tonk district has four assembly constituencies, including that of senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot. There is a large Gujar community here. Sachin Pilot belongs to this community. The BJP hopes that Ramesh Bidhuri’s appointment will help him garner votes as he also belongs to the Gujar community. Party sources said that Ramesh Bidhuri will act as BJP’s election in-charge for Tonk district. Meanwhile, Ramesh Bidhuri said on his X page that he attended the meeting of Tonk district coordinators in Jaipur. The meeting was attended by Rajasthan BJP President C.P. Joshi led.

Ramesh Bidhuri, a BJP MP from South Delhi, had made a hateful remark towards his fellow member of the Bahujan Samaj Party, Danish Ali, during a debate on Chandrayaan 3 in a special session of Parliament. Various political parties protested that this is Islamophobic speech. In this context, the BJP had sent a notice to him seeking an explanation. The opposition parties insisted that appropriate action should be taken against Ramesh Bidhuri, who expressed his hatred in the House. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh had insisted that he should be suspended. It is noteworthy that he said that the words he spoke could not be used anywhere inside or outside them.
