The specialty tests were postponed to June for the Terminale, the brevet tests to the beginning of July… While the end of the year is set for Saturday July 6 in 2024, the students must keep busy! So those in second grade will be obliged to do a two-week internship in a company, the last two of June.
No details have been set in stone by the Ministry, the announcement of a compulsory internship has raised “questions and concerns” from teachers and parents. Here are the outlines of the measure while awaiting details from the Ministry.
Compulsory internship at the end of the second year: when?
The Terminales will take their exams from June 18: philosophy, specialty and the grand oral, the Premières will take their written and oral French baccalaureate from June 14 to July 5. But most often the classes of second year students find themselves released into the wild at the end of May, just after the class councils.

Classes will therefore continue until mid-June. Then the second year students will be required to complete a two-week internship in a company from June 17 to 29. The objective is to further mature their professional project, after a week of observation with the third year internships (3 to 5 days also obligatory), the students will have to take advantage of this to further refine their orientation projects.
Internship at the end of the second year: where?
In which companies will students be able to do their internship and for what missions? All organizations are possible: companies, associations, universal national service, public institutions, etc. High schools and regions should be called upon to help second-year students find their internship. A regional or national platform should open later this year to help parents and students find the internship.
The professional field or missions of the internship should preferably be consistent with the three specialties they have chosen for the first year. “This provision will allow students to deepen their discovery of careers, to better prepare and strengthen their career choices,” the Ministry of National Education explained to Le Parisien.
Internship at the end of the second year: contract?
An intern is not an employee of a company but, as with any internship, you must sign an internship agreement specifying the dates, missions, location and insurance in the event of problems.
Internship at the end of the second year: remuneration?
Below the legal duration of 2 months, remuneration is not obligatory for an internship. Just like the third year internship, the internship at the end of the second year will remain more observational, and not very productive for a company which considers that it has more costs than gains in welcoming an intern. It is very unlikely that you will be paid for this internship.
This internship can be put like the third one on his CV, which could make it a plus in his future Parcoursup file.
