Demet Akbağ, the jury president of the Golden Orange Film Festival, announced that she resigned from her position.

The documentary ‘Law Provision’, which was about the decree laws and was excluded from the National Documentary Competition selection of the 60th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, was included in the selection again after reactions. This time, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism withdrew from the festival. Thereupon, censorship came back and the film was re-released.

When the documentary was first released, the jury president of the festival, Demet Akbağ, announced that she was resigning from her duty. Akbağ, who returned to duty after the documentary was included in the selection, announced that he was leaving his job once again last night when the festival management took a step back again.

“I AM LEAVING MY POSITION”

The statement shared by Akbağ on his social media account is as follows:

“I am leaving my position as jury president, which I accepted to talk about cinema and be in touch with cinema for a week. “I will not take part in the festival due to the communication problems, the lack of crisis management, and the discomfort I feel about my name being mentioned in events in which I am not involved.”

MINISTER ERSOY: OUR ATTITUDE IS CLEAR

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy spoke on the subject as follows:

“I would like to briefly touch upon the Golden Orange Film Festival. Our ministry’s stance on this issue has been very clear from the very beginning. As the Ministry, we are always supporters of culture and arts, but we are also extremely against making propaganda for a terrorist organization using the power of art and using art as an element of provocation.”
