While rumors and news about the possible merger between Jumbo and Soudal advance, the manager of the Dutch team -Richard Plugge- visited the CEO of the largest company on the planet: Apple. The manager was accompanied by one of the figures of the women’s team, Riejanne Markus.
Apple is considered the largest technology company and, as of March 2023, the largest overall company in the world by market capitalization. CEO Tim Cook, a cycling fan, fits perfectly into the equation.
“We visited Apple CEO and cycling fan Tim Cook. We talk about the season and the way we apply technology in cycling or in the food app. Next time, on the bike,” Plugge wrote. This in no way means that it was a business meeting, but the moment he walks through the team, he seems to think so.
One fact to consider is that Sepp Kuss’s victory in the Vuelta generated movement in the United States and COSTCO and other possible sponsors in that country were already looking to replace Jumbo. Will it be Apple?
