Conductive: occurs when there is a blockage for sound to pass from the outer ear to the middle ear. It can be treated with medications or surgery. Sensorineural hearing loss: this is the type of loss that occurs when there is an alteration in the functioning of the inner ear or the auditory nerve. Mixed: it is a combination of the previous two. Auditory neuropathic spectrum disorder: occurs when sound enters the ear normally, but due to the presence of damage to the auditory nerve or inner ear, the sound is not processed in a way that the brain can interpret it.
There are different degrees
Regarding the degree of hearing loss, they can be classified into different types:
Mild: The person can hear some speech sounds but does not hear whispers clearly. Moderate: The person who suffers from this type of hearing loss may not hear almost anything that a person says when speaking at a normal volume. Severe: if a person suffers from this degree, he cannot hear what a person is saying when speaking at a normal volume and only perceives some loud sounds. Profound: the person who suffers from it does not hear anything that is spoken and can only hear some very loud sounds.
