Thomas Noone is a choreographer who gives his works a very physical and gestural style. In 2001 he founded his own company, resident at the theater sat! from Barcelona. He also works as an international guest choreographer.
With Thomas Noone Dance he has created more than thirty productions in collaboration with city entities such as the Grec festival or the Mercat de les Flors. The company has toured Spain, Europe, South America, South Korea and Lebanon.
As a guest choreographer he has signed pieces for Ballet Bassel (Switzerland), Norrdans (Sweden), Ballet du Rhin (France), Munster Tanzteater (Germany), Company E (USA), Chilean National Ballet – BANCH (Chile) among others, also creating inclusive dance pieces for professional companies Stopgap (England) and Kyo-Muse (Japan).
He is artistic director of Dansat! dance festival at sat! since 2006, and organizes activities that include international collaborations (Grec, Aerowawes), inclusive dance and actions to support local companies. In 2011 he received the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize for dance.
Also as a teacher he teaches numerous workshops and is invited as a jury for awards and competitions.
We are facing one of those companies that, for one reason or another, are not known in southern Spain. Therefore, it is a pleasure that spaces like the Zero Room They have opened their doors so that those of us who live in Seville can get closer to one of their works, to their imagination. That is to say: after carefully consulting the website of Thomas Donne Dance, I have found a broad career, an interesting aesthetic and philosophy. The fact is that I would like to do my part so that these professionals from Catalonia feel at home. Which also happens because I reviewed one of his works. A man sitting in a chair, reflecting on past conversations and encounters, filtering, trying to differentiate what is relevant from what is insubstantial, remembering and reliving. The surprising appearance of his alter ego will allow him a dialogue as intense as it is absurd. Truths, dreams and lies expressed with dance and a rebellious puppet.
