The project by 190 million dollarssaid the World Bank, will contribute to improving educational outcomes, benefiting approximately 790,000 students and 12,000 teachers.

The loan, said the multilateral organization, has a variable margin and has a term of 17 years including a grace period of eight years.

“This program will contribute to increase access and educational quality in more than 1,200 institutions educational at the national level, prioritizing those in rural areas. By 2028, it is expected that this program will allow enrollment in the intervened institutions to double, as well as educational quality, improving opportunities for girls, boys and adolescents, with special emphasis on the level of initial education,” said the Minister of Education, María. Brown, in a statement from the World Bank.

The project will support recovery and acceleration of learning through improvements in school infrastructure to promote the health and well-being of students, creating resilient, inclusive and energy efficient spaces, which help to address the country’s high vulnerability to climate risks.

Also, the entity said, will contribute to curricular updating of early education teachers with innovative pedagogical models that promote the improvement of the quality of teaching in the classrooms and prepare students for entry to school.

Furthermore, it has been included a contingent response component to emergencies that will allow funds to be reallocated in the event of a disaster to attend to establishments whose school infrastructure is affected, the multilateral detailed.

The schools to be supported have been identified based on a series of criteria including: the poverty level, measured by the index of unsatisfied basic needs; the security risk, based on violence indicators in the areas where educational establishments are located; and the concentration of the migrant population.
