Arrested social activist: ‘They grabbed my hair and dragged me on the ground in the police station’

Social activist Ruslan Vahabov He says that the drug charges against him are false, and that his arrest is due to the status he wrote on his Facebook account on September 21. He also spoke about this when the appeal against the decision to arrest him was heard at the Baku Court of Appeal.

He said that on September 22, when he went to work, he was arrested and brought to the 23rd police station of Nizami district. According to him, he was tortured in the unit: “In section 23, they grabbed my hair and dragged me on the ground…”.

R. Vahabov said that he was forced to sign a statement that he bought the drug for 100 manats without enduring torture and insults.

He was charged with Article 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code (acquiring, transporting, storing large quantities of drugs for the purpose of sale). This article stipulates imprisonment from 5 to 12 years.

It is alleged that more than 6 grams of drugs came out of him when he was detained. He says that the police put the drugs in his pocket.
