Billionaire Elon Musk is entering the debate on immigration in the United States in his own way. He traveled to the Texas-Mexico border to meet with local politicians and law enforcement to present an “unfiltered” view of the situation, all filmed and broadcast live on X, formerly Twitter .

His visit comes as the United States faces a surge in arrivals of candidates for exile. Thousands of migrants are risking crossing the border in northern Mexico aboard freight trains and buses, crossing the Rio Grande in the hope of crossing into Texas, Arizona or California.

Last July, a federal judge in California blocked Joe Biden’s restrictive migration policy causing, among other things, this increase in border crossings. The magistrate, Jon Tigar, had thus deemed “illegal” several measures aimed at reducing the massive influx of migrants.

Tesla and SpaceX on Texas soil

“I am pro-immigration” declared Elon Musk, also recalling that he himself immigrated to the United States from South Africa where he is from. “We need a significantly expanded legal immigration system and we should let anyone in the country who works hard and honestly,” argues the billionaire.

Elon Musk still forgot to recall, in his “unfiltered” live on X, his economic interests in Texas. Its Tesla “Gigafactory” factory is located in Austin, and SpaceX operates a major test and launch center on the Gulf Coast near Brownsville.
