New Delhi,

Field Marshal KM Kariyappa became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army after independence on 15 January 1949. This day is celebrated every year as Army Day.

MM Naravane, the current Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, was interviewed by reporters in Delhi yesterday. Then he said: –

Indian Chinese troops have been partially withdrawn in eastern Ladakh. Yet the threat has not diminished in any way. We continue to be ready to act at the highest level. At the same time, talks with the Chinese military are ongoing.

The Indian Army is adequately prepared to deal with any military changes to China’s new land border law. We will resolutely confront the Chinese army on the eastern Ladakh border. Let’s deal with it firmly. The security measures are adequate to take care of any accidents.

A comprehensive effort has been made to improve the infrastructure on the northern border. Necessary efforts are being made on a large scale to find out what can be used in all the dual-use infrastructure across the border.

If China tries to change the current border situation unilaterally, our forces will respond very strongly. We are perfectly prepared to face any challenge that may come our way.

Thus he said.

Responding to a question on the 14th round of talks with the Chinese military, Indian Army Commander MM Narawane said, “India is hopeful that the problems at Patrol Point 15 (Hot Strings) in eastern Ladakh will be resolved.”
