Fire in Villa in Mellerud Results in Two Fatalities

Mellerud, Saturday – A tragic fire in a villa in Mellerud has claimed the lives of two elderly individuals. The fire was initially reported to the SOS emergency service at around 7 o’clock on Saturday morning.

According to Göran Carlbom, the officer on duty at the police in the West region, it is believed that there was a witness who saw the fire and promptly alerted the authorities. The fire was eventually extinguished by 9 o’clock that morning.

Later in the evening, the police announced that two individuals, a man and a woman in their 80s, were found dead at the scene of the fire. Carlbom stated, “I interpret it as that they were written on the address.” The police technicians have been conducting an investigation throughout the day, but the fire scene investigation is still ongoing.

Although the incident is currently being treated as arson, there are no suspects at this time. Carlbom explained, “It’s always like that when you don’t really know what caused the fire. If you cannot rule out crime and it is a case of serious damage, you do so. Then we’ll see what the technical investigation shows.”

The police have informed the relatives of the deceased about the tragic incident. As the investigation proceeds, the police will continue to gather evidence and determine the cause of the fire.
