Carlos Ruiz Zafón died of cancer in his Los Angeles home, Spanish media reported. Born in Barcelona, ​​the 55-year-old writer lived at least six months a year in Malibu, where he worked for the Hollywood industry. He began his career in 1993 with a series of books for children and teenagers. In 2001, with “L’ombra del vento”, he made a name for himself on the international literary scene. With millions of copies sold, the book enters the list of the best 100 in Spanish of the last 25 years. In 2005 he won the Barry International Award, for the best debut novel.
