It’s not particularly difficult to fall in love with this little town on this island, which not only has one of the most prominent seafood restaurants around, but also one of the best bakers. Not to mention the deserted red beaches and the even redder cliffs just beyond the small harbor, the reason tens of thousands of people land in North Rustico every summer. If you want to stay a little longer, where the waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence drift towards the Atlantic, you have a wide variety of options, inns and comfortable motels, cottages and bed and breakfasts. And something really special: “Around the Sea”, the only revolving house in the world with four holiday apartments, which offers every guest an unusual attraction: the circular building, two floors high, with a facade that is three quarters made of glass, rotates namely on a steel platform leisurely around its axis within an hour. The purpose of the exercise: No matter which apartment you have rented, you are guaranteed to enjoy the view of the wide sea, just 200 meters away, just behind Beach Lane.

The project arose from Steve Arnold’s whim just over a decade ago, when he and his wife were still living in Toronto and dreaming of a vacation home on Prince Edward Island. The business economist often spent his holidays on the island when he was young. Initially the whole thing was just supposed to be a classic round building with space for paying guests. But the idea took on new dimensions when the two lived in Australia: “We saw this round, rotating house there,” says Arnold. “And we knew from then on that we wanted something like that.”
