This should not calm the controversy. A week after the homophobic chants sung by Parisian supporters during the PSG match at the Parc des Princes against Marseille (4-0), Rennes ultras sadly stood out with similar chants during the meeting between Rennes and Nantes, Sunday at Roazhon. Park, during this derby counting for the 7th day of Ligue 1.

In the 21st minute of the match, while Rennes led 1-0 after a penalty from Benjamin Bourigeaud, supporters of the Roazhon Celtic Kop sang chants targeting the Nantes residents, but also one of the Canaries players, Matthis Abline.

A banner stating “Abline, a return trip” was also brandished in the same stand, referring to the departure this summer of the 20-year-old player, loaned to the Canaries for the season. In reaction, part of the stadium whistled chants aimed at the player.

This incident therefore comes a week after the events at the Parc des Princes which led to numerous reactions. Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra particularly regretted that the meeting was not interrupted following the chants. Summoned by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), the leaders of PSG will be heard on Thursday.
