Newly Founded Heart Failure Network in East Hesse Aims to Improve Patient Care
Fulda, Germany – In an effort to enhance the care provided to patients with heart failure in the region, the East Hesse Heart Failure Network has been established. The network, consisting of various medical professionals and institutions, aims to create a sustainable improvement in the management of heart failure.
Heart failure, a serious chronic disease that can worsen over time, often arises as a result of other underlying health conditions. The Fulda Clinic highlighted that conditions such as high blood pressure or coronary heart disease can lead to damage or increased workload on the heart. Despite the best medical care, heart failure can progress, necessitating different care options at different stages.
“The heart failure network will establish an organizational framework for all medical actors in the East Hesse region, ensuring seamless coordination and avoiding any discrepancies in patient care,” stated a press release from the clinic.
Early diagnosis and optimized treatment processes are among the primary goals of the network. By accomplishing these objectives, the overall performance and quality of life for patients affected by heart failure are expected to significantly improve. The German Heart Foundation is supporting the network, advocating for the interests of patients and enabling a more comprehensive approach to their care.
Prof. Dr. Volker Schächinger, representing the management team of the network, explained that the primary focus is two-fold: recognizing heart failure in its early stages and implementing necessary measures for patients already diagnosed. The network consists of clinics and practices, including the associations of general practitioners, providing a multi-disciplinary approach to care.
In order to ensure specialized care, the network’s partners have established certified heart failure focus structures recognized by the German Society for Cardiology (DGK). These structures include heart failure focus practices in the Landarzt MVZ and the MVZ Altstadt-Carre, as well as a Heart Failure Unit for severe cases at the Klinikum Fulda (Heart and Thorax Center Fulda). Additionally, the MVZ Osthessen operates a heart failure specialist outpatient clinic in association with the network.
Other neighboring clinics will also play a critical role in the regular care of heart failure patients, contributing to the comprehensive approach adopted by the network.
In other news, a topping-out ceremony was recently held for the construction project on Pacelliallee, which will provide 56 new apartments for the clinic’s employees and medical students.
This newly formed network presents an innovative approach to managing heart failure, with hopes to significantly improve patient outcomes throughout the East Hesse region.
