In 18 hours, 02 minutes and 45 seconds he ran 110 kilometers in the UTMB competition in Brazil, the largest Brazilian trail running event. This emblematic test was carried out between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and flanked by the Serra da Bocaina National Park.
Sportsman. Juan Pablo Mullo, a Riobambeño athlete, met a new challenge in his sporting career. Mullo is an example of life, because through sports practice he was able to distance himself from drugs and alcohol. He covered 110 km in 18 hours.
In the international event, more than 30 Ecuadorian athletes participated, including 12 from Chimborac, three from Rio Bamboo performed the 110 kilometer test, such as: Adolfo López, Joselito Moreno and Juan Pablo Mullo.
To meet this challenge, Mullo had to prepare for a year.
Challenge. 18 hours running on an irregular field is something surprising, “I set myself this challenge, I knew what I was going for, so every kilometer I ran I was thinking about the people who supported me, I thought about my family, there are many things I know are coming. at the head, and above all what encourages him is that there is someone behind me that I am motivating and who wants to continue in this sport that is trail running,” said Juan Pablo.
Route
During the journey the organization installs supply points, “there were nine points, one was supplied with water, moisturizer, fruit, nuts; “You also take things that you already have planned during the route,” argued the runner.
In addition to the supply points, the organization installed two strategic points where athletes could change clothing, shoes, eat and continue with the route.
“My personal challenge was to finish the race, the organization even gave a time of 34 hours to finish the test, and they installed two points called closed doors, so I could rest, I completed the challenge in 18 hours,” he said.
To meet this challenge, Mullo had to finance himself around $1,600 and he did it by making a batch.
