At 80, Guy Morin, homeless since 2014, settled in the grounds of the Château de Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne). His belongings have been seized on several occasions by the site management, who want him to leave the premises, says The Parisian this Friday. However, many want a compromise allowing the man, appreciated by many local residents and walkers, to stay.

Castle officials have raised health concerns. Last July, rats invaded the octogenarian’s makeshift camp. Major rodent control operations then had to be carried out. Through its president Smina Kernoua, the Les Colibris association made a proposal. The organization which regularly brings food and equipment to Guy Morin, suffering from Diogenes syndrome, has assured that it can regularly clean up waste and prevent the return of rodents. Management, for its part, explained that accommodation solutions had been offered to the homeless person, who had declined them. She also had a bailiff note that the homeless man had not respected his obligation to leave the premises.
