The police arrested a total of 616 border violators on Sunday, the National Police Headquarters announced on Monday. In the county of Csongrád-Csanád, 490 border violators were found in 16 groups in Ásotthalm, Mórahalm and Röszke. In the neighboring county of Bács-Kiskun, 32 illegal immigrants were found in five groups, but migrants were also found in Budapest and Nógrád, as well as in the county of Vas.

Several people smugglers have been caught again. A Polish minibus driven by a Ukrainian man was checked in Röszké. 26 foreigners were found in the vehicle. Not long after, a Romanian man driving a Hungarian minibus was stopped in Mórahalm. 32 illegal immigrants were found in it. The detained illegal migrants claimed to be Afghan, Algerian, Syrian and Turkish citizens during the inspection, but they did not have any papers, so it was not possible to check whether they were telling the truth. The police therefore escorted them back to the temporary security border in accordance with the current Hungarian legislation. Proceedings were initiated against the captured human traffickers. Human trafficking can be punished by imprisonment of one to five years in the basic case, and up to five to fifteen years in classified cases. The human traffickers caught in Röszké and Mórahalm will soon be arrested by the court.
