Former President Trump Returns to Court for Second Day of Civil Trial in New York

Former President Donald Trump made his return to court on Tuesday for the second day of a civil trial in New York. The trial revolves around allegations that Trump exaggerated his wealth and engaged in fraudulent activities.

In an early morning social media post, Trump described the opening day of the trial as a success and announced his presence for the second day. He mentioned that the judge would be honoring the Appellate Court’s decision on the Statute of Limitations, which reduces the case by approximately 80%.

Trump, who is currently the frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race for the Republican Party, has turned his court appearance into a pseudo-campaign event, attracting significant attention from the press.

During Monday’s hearing, Trump did not speak in court but addressed reporters outside the courtroom multiple times. He once again attacked the judge and New York Attorney General Letitia James, who filed the lawsuit against Trump, his two sons, and the Trump Organization after an extensive investigation.

The former president has been accused of inflating his wealth by up to $3.6 billion at times and deflating it on other occasions to deceive financial institutions. Last week, the judge, Arthur Engoron, ruled that Trump was liable for fraud, resulting in the revocation of some of Trump’s business licenses.

James is seeking $250 million in penalties and a ban preventing Trump and his organizations from conducting business in New York again.

In his latest social media post on Tuesday, Trump praised the success of his company, despite the trial initiated by the “Racist Attorney General of New York State, Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James”. He claimed that the trial was exposing the great success of his business and warned against moving companies to New York or remaining there due to the difficulties of dealing with the “Radical Left Democrats, Marxists, and Fascists”.

Apart from the ongoing civil trial, Trump is also facing four federal criminal trials, involving 91 separate charges.
