Soon an artificial Moon in Dubai?

It’s ambitious, absurd and fascinating, as Dubai knows how to do. A private company dating from 2000 plans to invest some five billion dollars to grow a giant artificial Moon, a new type of building.

This crazy project is carried out by the private company Moon World Resorts Inc., whose site Internet is strangely empty. “Twelve people have been there. Eight billion want to visit,” assure its founders, however, rather confidently.

The idea can be summarized as follows: a gigantic spherical building resembling our natural satellite, which would ultimately reach a height of 224 meters. It would include homes (4,000 private apartments), leisure spaces, a hotel, private residences, a spa, a room hosting events, but above all… an attraction reproducing the characteristics of the lunar surface. Not only is the project intended to be attractive to tourists, but also to allow budding astronauts to train!

As reported FuturaSciences, the company’s founders reportedly indicated that Moon’s plans are close to being finalized. However, they did not communicate technical details on how the lunar terrain works or its characteristics.

What is certain is that it is not for tomorrow. The first drafts of the project Moon were made in the 2000s, and it is only starting to get people talking about it. For the moment, many gray areas surround the construction of this new Moon, both in terms of financing and the design of the structure. If it ever emerges from the ground, it should not be before 2030, although CNN last year expected construction to be completed in 2027.
