The environmental impact of sporting events can be very high because it is estimated that they generate an average of approximately 2.5 tons of waste. The maintenance of a natural grass soccer field consumes 52,000 liters of water per day, that is, 19 million liters per year. For all these reasons, EAVE, main sponsor of the Las Fuentes Trail, has implemented measures to reduce the environmental impact of this event. Among all of them, the creation of a recovery area for runners and the manufacture of wooden prizes stand out.

Sport moves masses. However, the environmental impact of these activities is very large since approximately an average of 2.5 tons of waste are generated per sporting event. However, it is possible to reduce this impact by taking small actions. For this reason, and to prove that there can be synergy between sport and sustainability, EAVE will sponsor the Trail Las Fuentes TFL on October 6, a 10.5km race in which 400 runners will participate that will take place on the Camino Tornero (Tenerife) , demonstrating the ability to carry out sports activities in natural spaces, mitigating the damage caused to the natural environment.

With the purpose of reducing the environmental impact of the race, EAVE, a company specialized in photovoltaic energy for self-consumption and specialized in smart chargers for electric vehicles, has carried out several green actions, among which stand out: a recovery area, an enabled space for participants to rest where they can enjoy physiotherapists and can charge their devices with clean energy thanks to a solar station; The medals and trophies that will be distributed are made of wood in order to substantially reduce the production of polluting materials and metals; and, in addition, portable solar panels will be raffled off so that runners can benefit and learn about the countless advantages that solar energy presents.

Luis Linares, founder and CEO of EAVE, states that “for us it is of utmost importance to support local sports and sporting events that share our concern for environmental impact. When TLF developed the sponsorship proposal for EAVE, they did so with the perspective of reducing waste generation and promoting sustainability. This vision aligns perfectly with our values and objectives, and we believe that a mountain race was the best place to bring clean and natural energy to citizens.” Likewise, Jonathan Hernández, race director, adds that “this race has a very deep meaning in my life, since it takes place in the mountains of my neighborhood, Camino Tornero, where I grew up. Having EAVE, which is not only a leader in the photovoltaic industry but also advocates for change, to sponsor the race is a dream come true, both for us and, above all, for me. 400 people will run in a sustainable way and with enthusiasm, enjoying a race that was born from passion and effort to make sports lovers enjoy themselves. It’s really exciting.”
